Itinerary

Igman

During the Olympics, Mountain Igman buzzed with activity, being the busiest mountain of the games. It proudly hosted thrilling winter sports disciplines such as cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, biathlon, and ski jumping. The venues were strategically situated across two distinct locations: Igman Little Field, home to the awe-inspiring ski jumps, and Igman Big Field, which accommodated the other three exhilarating disciplines.

While the popularity of Bjelasnica may have surpassed that of Igman Mountain in recent years, Igman still holds a charm of its own. Thanks to its serene atmosphere, fewer crowds, and limited number of cars and restaurants, it has become a preferred choice for leisurely walks and relaxation. Nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility will find solace in the untouched beauty of Igman Mountain.

Bjelašnica

Renowned for its sharp turns and formidable slopes, Bjelasnica ski slope proved to be a true test of skill and bravery. During the 1984 Winter Olympic Games, it was exclusively used for one discipline: men’s alpine skiing. The athletes who braved this demanding course showcased their exceptional talent and determination in conquering the mountain’s treacherous terrain.

In addition to its reputation as a challenging ski slope, Bjelasnica gained further prominence during the Olympics with the construction of two new hotels specifically designed to accommodate the influx of visitors. These hotels not only served as comfortable retreats for athletes and officials but also transformed the mountain into a vibrant hub for celebrities, actors, musicians, and other distinguished guests. Bjelasnica became a place where the worlds of sports, recreation, and entertainment intertwined.

Trebević

In the era of socialist Yugoslavia, Trebevic Mountain held a unique distinction. It boasted the southernmost bob-sled track in the world, a remarkable feat for a country known for its long Adriatic coast. Experts and enthusiasts hailed this track as “Safe, Quick, and technically interesting, requiring extreme concentration and technical knowledge.” Its design and challenging nature attracted thrill-seekers and skilled athletes alike, who were captivated by the adrenaline-fueled experience it provided.

Today, the Trebevic bob-sled track has evolved into a renowned tourist destination, drawing visitors from near and far. Its close proximity to the city makes it easily accessible, and its vibrant graffiti-covered walls add an element of urban artistry to the experience. While the track’s preservation is relatively modest, it continues to serve as a training ground for summer athletes, showcasing the enduring spirit of sporting excellence.
