Starting point for our tour is Sarajevo City Hall called Vijećnica. This building showcases a remarkable blend of secession and Moorish architectural styles.
Our next stop is Kazandžiluk or Coopersmirh Street. This street is famous for its copper craft shops. Take a leisurely walk along the street and see the traditional crafts and copper items featured in the film.
Continue to Baščaršija and visit Sebilj, the wooden fountain and one of the symbols of Sarajevo. According to a local legend, visitors who drink water from this fountain will return to Sarajevo.
Proceed to the Yellow Fortress, a medieval fortress located on a hill above Sarajevo. This is where a most well known scene from the movie takes place (“You see this city? Das ist Walter). Enjoy the breathtaking view of Sarajevo and envision the film scenes that were shot here.
Proceed to the courtyard of the Gazi Husev Bey’s Mosque, another filming location. Take a stroll through the courtyard and imagine the movie scenes that unfolded here. (Famous scene at 5 at Bey’s mosque).
You will also see the Clock Tower, the oldest tower in Sarajevo, which also appeared in the film. Admire its Ottoman design and visualize the film scenes that revolved around this iconic landmark.
